Exercises that you can do at home part 2

You have likely heard of pushups or you have had to do them in gym class at school. But did you know that you can change the focus muscle group by just changing the postion of your hands on the ground?

The normal method is to have your hands shoulder width apart, with your but in line with your legs and back (ie not sticking up). Lower your body to the ground with your arms and try to think about the muscles in your chest. Thinking of the muscle group you are trying to hit helps you keep your speed in check, and helps you keep proper technique.

The other method to do pushups is to put your hands side by side on the ground so that your arms form a "v" at the floor. This helps focus on your tricep muscles (opposite your biceps). Use the same technique and speed as you would for a normal pushup and think of your triceps.

Remember to breath properly when doing your pushups. Exhale when pushing up and breath on when lowering your self. Also, don't drop yourself when lowering and then jerk yourself backup, slow crontrolled movements are they key, just as if you were lifting weights.
